The Blockchain Bean

IBM wanted to show the next generation that blockchain isn’t just for crypto bros and supply chains, so we brewed up something unexpected: The Blockchain Bean, the world’s first blockchain-powered coffee shop.
In partnership with Brooklyn Roasting Company, we opened a pop-up at Smorgasburg where every cup of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe could be traced, from the farm to the cup in customers’ hands. They then scanned a QR code to see exactly where their coffee came from, who made it, and even tip the farmer, all tracked on IBM blockchain.
This was a really fun project to work on because it was wide open. We could show IBM’s Blockchain through any industry we wanted, and had the opportunity to show IBM in a totally different tone and light.
